Lana Lang on the WB's "Smallville" Kristin Kreuk stars as Clark Kent's star-crossed love Lana Lang in Smallville. Next up for Kreuk is the mini-series Earthsea, with Isabella Rossellini and Danny Glover. Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Kreuk began acting in high school plays, but focused more on her schoolwork than the stage. Fate came calling at the beginning of her senior year, when a casting director looking for new talent for the television series Edgemont tapped Kreuk for a starring role. It was her first professional audition. Kreuk starred on Edgemont for four seasons. Currently, Kreuk is one of the faces of Neutrogena.
Kreuk currently lives in Vancouver and, when not working, enjoys reading and spending time with friends.
The WB: Give us the scoop on Smallville...
The WB: And you're the lucky girl he chooses as his love interest?
The WB: What's Lana like?
The WB: How does it feel to have your first really big acting job?
The WB: So you're not the type who was born wanting to be an actress?
The WB: Were you discovered by accident?
The WB: Does that mean you're putting college on hold?
The WB: What were you planning to study?
The WB: And now? Date-line: "Right now I don't have any one special person in my life. It's not that easy to find someone I can relate too. I'm tough to crack because I'm shy. Name That Tune: "I'm really into hip hop music right now. That and rap. Basically I listen to just about everything except heavy metal." Street Wise: "I'd rather walk than drive a car. In Vancouver, where I am from, you can get to just about anywhere you need to go on foot. Even if it's raining I'll go out for a stroll. I just love that. Brazil Nut: "Someday I'd like to do some real traveling. I'm obsessed with Brazil and I've always had this dream of backpacking through South America." Hidden Talent: "I did gymnastics when I was growing up and to this day I can still do the splits." Wonder Woman: "I wish Lana would become more independent! Sure, she's tough in some ways, but she's also a wimp." Seeing Red: "Clark is a different guy now thanks to his exploits on red kryptonite. I think Lana kind of likes that side of Clark. She also has an incredible dislike for the guy 'cause he can be so flat-out mean to her." In The Cut: "I'm not allowed to do anything new with my hair. I'd get shot. This season it's a little shorter and there are curls but, that's it." The Naked Truth: "I think Tom is officially used to (showing skin) now. I don't know how shy he is about it. Michael and Sam have no problem in that department. They're not shy! This season, I think we are already prepared for more of the clothes-taking-off stuff." Not So Blind Dates: "In real life, I could go out with any of the guys on Smallville. Clark would be a great boyfriend because he is so loyal and generous. Lex is very sexy. You know, that dark, evil thing is always attractive. And Pete is just plain funny. A lot of girls, including me, like funny."
Face Off: Lana vs. ChloeWB Diva and Tadpole are two of our most opinionated, devoted and yes, obsessive fans. We've decided to get them off of their couches and into the ring to battle it out on the question of the week. Check back soon to see what they take on next. Who's the best girl for Clark: Lana or Chloe? Tadpole: Oh, that's a no-brainer! Obviously, Chloe is the perfect match for Clark. She's smart, sassy and totally self-confident. She's also mature enough to understand that love based on friendship is the only way to go. WB Diva: I see what you're getting at, but Clark and Lana just have that spark, you know? That thing that makes them want to melt every time they look at each other. Lana may be dealing with that whole I-have-to-remain-loyal-to-my-boyfriend thing, but when it comes down to it, there is some intense heat there. Tadpole: Well, thanks for sharing, Cinderella. I'm all for white knights, but fairy-tale romance is so junior high school. And yeah, it's obvious that there's chemistry between Clark and Lana, but he is way too deep for a girl who revels in dating Mr. Slick, Hip and Sporty. Chloe and Clark have much more in common. They believe in saving the world. WB Diva: I admit Lana may be a bit of a people-pleaser, but isn't that what every hero deserves? Besides, as much as Chloe may like Clark, her journalistic side will always get the better of her. There's no way he could ever be safe dating someone who's hungry for headlines. Tadpole: Please, you've got to give the girl some credit. Yes, Chloe's an awesome reporter, but she would never blow Clark's cover for a story. The point is, she has a life. She has goals and ambitions, and she brings a lot more to the table than Lana. I'd rather see Clark with someone who can help him deal with his destiny rather than someone who's really good with pom-poms. WB Diva: Chloe and Clark may make sense on paper, but when it comes down to it, there will always be Lana. As much as Clark may think he can move on, he will always wonder what would have happened if he had dated Lana. Chloe would always wonder if she was first in Clark's heart. That's why Lana and Clark have to be together. |
